6/14/2024 - 11:10am-12:00pm

Henry E. Kinney Tunnel is a roadway tunnel that is along US 1 and carries traffic under the New River and Las Olas Blvd, in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The tunnel replaced the adjacent drawbridge which opened on August 26, 1926, and closed in 1958. The Tunnel was completed in 1960, and it was the only operating public tunnel in Florida until the Port of Miami Tunnel was completed in 2014. The rehabilitation of the Henry E. Kinney Tunnel included structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, life safety and the expansion of the City of Ft Lauderdale Riverwalk Plaza.
