Misleidys Leon is a Senior Transportation Engineer with 19 years of experience in traffic operations and safety studies. She started her career in January 2005, just four weeks after graduating from Florida International University with a bachelor’s and a master’s degrees in civil engineering. Ms. Leon first started as a Traffic Operations Analyst. Two years later she was promoted as a Traffic Safety Program Engineer. She has been leading the Safety office in District 6 for the past 17 years. Her highest priority is eliminating roadway fatalities and educating our community on safe traffic behaviors. She recognizes this is not easy, but Ms. Leon and her team have the commitment, the energy, and the innovation to implement systemic improvements to make meaningful progress. Her professional accomplishments include the installation of raised crosswalks and channelization to reduce pedestrian crashes. Roadway re-alignment along US-1 from Ponce to SW 37 Ave to reduce run off the road fatalities. Installation of blank out signs along Collins Ave from SR 826 to 178 St to control right turning vehicles when pedestrians are crossing to reduce pedestrian crashes.
