Instructor

Mark Doctor is a Senior Engineer with Gresham Smith. Prior to joining Gresham Smith in June 2025, Mark retired from a 37-year career with the Federal Highway Administration. Throughout his career, Mark has been a champion for advancing safety considerations into project designs. In recent years, he has worked to advance the understanding of the Safe System Approach and provide transportation practitioners with tools and strategies for practical applications of Safe System principles. Mark lives in the Atlanta, GA area, but has strong Florida connections, having worked in the FHWA Tallahassee office early in his career. Mark also received his Masters Degree in Transportation Engineering from the University of Florida.
