Maria Elena is a member of the Traffic Operations office in District 4, with a specialized role in Traffic Services. Her responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks in trying to identify and address operational and safety deficiencies in our roadways and proposing and implementing effective remedial actions. In addition, Maria Elena manages professional and contractual services contracts that support multiple Traffic Operations functions. Through diligent coordination, she fosters an environment of communication and collaboration among D4 staff and local government stakeholders.
Maria Elena earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Universidad de Los Andes in Venezuela and later pursued a master’s degree in Transportation Planning at the University of Iowa.
