Joseph Fontanelli

Joseph Fontanelli began his career with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District-5, in 2018. Before joining FDOT, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and served as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, Joseph supervised and led a team of concrete restoration specialists, managing contracts with NASA across Louisiana, Texas, and Florida. At FDOT, Joseph has spent five years in Consultant Project Management, handling a variety of design projects including resurfacing, roundabouts, complete streets, wooden bridges, and boardwalks. He has recently been involved in the development and construction of a seawall along A1A in Flagler and Volusia Counties. Currently, Joseph serves as the Planning and Development Supervisor for District-5, overseeing Project Development & Environment (PD&E) studies and leading various resiliency, feasibility, and corridor improvement studies. Previously, he also served as the District-5 Value Engineering Coordinator.
