Dr. Ian Pawn is the FDOT District 2 Cultural Resources Coordinator. He received his PhD in 2012 from Florida State University and spent time as a NAGPRA (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act) professional for the National Park Service before moving to his current position in 2016. During his time at FDOT, Dr. Pawn has been a part of a number of high-profile projects including the emergency excavation of remains from the I-295/I-95 interchange, the discovery of a 19th-century sailing vessel during a drainage project in St. Augustine, and many cultural resource studies resulting from hurricane emergency repair efforts.
