Instructor

Donald Avery has over 30 years of experience in TSM&O, ITS, and traffic engineering. Don received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of Florida. For the past 25 years, Don has worked directly on TSM&O and ITS projects. He spent 15 years in construction engineering and inspection for multiple ITS deployment projects in southeast Florida. For the past 10 years, he has served as the project manager for the Florida Department of Transportation District Six Operations contract at the SunGuide TMC covering Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. The Operations contract includes managing the 24/7 TMC with a staff of over 70 employees covering a range of diverse services. Don is happy to now play with the ITS devices that he spent years constructing in the field.
