Dean Perkins

An architect since 1984, Dean Perkins joined the Florida Department of Transportation in 1988 to manage rest area design and production projects. He was appointed the Department's statewide ADA Coordinator in January 1992. In this position, Dean was responsible for initiating Department policies, developing procedures, managing practices and conducting training related to accessibility for persons with disabilities to Department services, buildings and pedestrian facilities on the state highway system. Recently retired from the Department, Dean has opened an ADA consulting firm – Accessible by Design, LLC. He specializes in ADA compliance reviews and training for transportation consultants and for local agency engineering & public works staff around Florida. He has a Master of Architecture from Florida A&M University. Dean is the Secretary of the Board of the National Association of ADA Coordinators (NAADAC).
