Catalina Chacon serves District Five as the District Consultant Project Management Engineer (DCPME) overseeing design and production of construction plans for projects totaling more than $595,000 million in Fiscal Year 2025. Guiding a staff of 23 project managers and supervisors, she works closely to ensure that programmed design projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest FDOT standards. She works closely with current and prospective consultant firms and other industry partners to continually improve the work environment and final products provided to the Department.
Prior to her appointment as DCPME, Ms. Chacon served as the Pre-Construction Program Manager for the I-4 Corridors Program Office.
Ms. Chacon started her career with the Department in 2009 as an In-House Roadway Design Engineer. She then transitioned to Consultant Project Management where she managed multiple roadway and bridge projects, most notably overseeing and leading the I-4 Beyond the Ultimate program. In 2021 she transitioned back to Roadway Design as the Strategic Initiatives Manager where she managed the Quality Assurance Office, served as the District’s Design-Build liaison, led collaboration efforts with Department staff, consultants, and project managers to drive safety driven projects in furtherance of the Department’s Target Zero Initiative.
She earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Central Florida. She is also a registered professional engineer in the State of Florida.
