Brenda’s 25-year transportation career in both the public and private sector includes technical and management experience in planning, design, traffic operations, construction, modal development, and safety. She is active in our industry having served on various boards and statewide teams to advance transportation safety and mobility. In her role as the State Safety Engineer, Brenda leads the statewide Highway Safety Improvement Program and Occupational Safety and Health Program, advancing collaboration among FDOT districts, technical disciplines, and partner agencies to create a “force multiplier” effect in Florida’s target zero charge to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries. In 2023 she was awarded the Florida-Puerto Rico ITE Transportation Engineer of the Year Award. Brenda earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from UCF, and is a licensed Professional Engineer and Certified Public Manager.
