FDOT’s policy on prefabricated steel truss pedestrian bridges has continued to evolve over the years in the areas of design, plans production, fabrication and shop drawing review. This presentation will cover the background on the development of FDOT’s policy and recent revisions to the FDOT Structures Design Guidelines, the FDOT Design Manual and Construction Specification Sections 460 and 962. In addition, the presentation will discuss the differing roles between the project EOR, Fabricator and Reviewer as part of the FDOT Design Manual criteria and will exclusively focus on steel trusses consisting of hollow structural sections (HSS).
