6/5/2019 - 11:00am-11:50am

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Systems Implementation Office (SIO) is responsible for developing policies, procedures and providing technical assistance needed to prepare Interchange Access Requests (IARs) in Florida. These IARs are required to address the safety, operations and engineering (SO&E) criteria of the proposed modification. This presentation will cover the procedural and technical requirements associated with preparation of IAR projects. Some of the key topics that will be covered in this presentation include: type of request, applicable Handbooks, analysis procedures, review process and approval authorities. The focus of the presentation will be on recent developments such as traffic and analysis requirements for express lanes. The new methodology to analyze express lanes weave segments developed by SIO in coordination with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will also be presented. The Florida Interchange Portal, a recent initiative of SIO, to have a central database for all interchanges in Florida, will also be shown during the presentation.
