Anchorage Zone Design and Detailing from Practical Perspective

6/3/2019 - 1:00pm-1:50pm

Anchorage zone design plays an important role for the successful design and construction of complex post-tensioned bridges. In addition, the failure of anchorage zone during stressing can cause serious safety issue on project site due to large bursting forces involved. Although AASHTO LRFD has extensive coverage on anchorage zone design, in the real design world, more complex cases of PT anchorages would be encountered which mostly not sufficiently addressed in the code. This presentation will show the theory and research from international perspectives, design methods, design examples, including best detailing practices from many decades of successful projects in the past.
